Photos of Machu Picchu one of the new seven wonders of the world, located in the province and valley of Urubamba in the department of Cusco Peru.
Machu Picchu was built by the Inca leader Pachacutec who governed the Inca empire. It was built with the aim of being the most beautiful in the Tawantinsuyo (the Inca Empire).
Arqueologists have divided Machu Picchu into three large sectors:
(1) The sacred quarters which includes "Intiwatana", The Sun Temple and the Three Windows Room.
(2) The priests' and nobles' quarters (residential zone)
(3) The commoners' quarters in the southern part of the city. Here the rest of the people lived.
